Dorjechang Buddhist Centre offers chaplaincy services out of compassion for all. As Kadampa Buddhists, we have commitments to practice compassion every day with wisdom, to improve ourselves, and to bring benefit to others. We are available to work with your government agency or health care organization to develop a program adapted to your specific needs and to those you serve. If you are interested in our Chaplaincy programs, please contact us at info@dorjechang.ca or call 604.853.3738.
Correctional Chaplaincy
Our Centre currently provides chaplaincy services to inmates at the BC Corrections – North Fraser Pretrial Centre, with the aim of giving inmates an opportunity for spiritual development and healing.
Buddhist nun Kelsang Chenma or Interfaith Chaplain Kelly McCallum lead weekly meditation classes that provide practical instructions on how to meditate and how to cope with difficulties such as guilt, anger, and depression, using concepts of love, compassion, and wisdom. These classes are intended to increase the inmates’ inner peace and mental stability.
Healthcare Chaplaincy
Within a healthcare setting, our chaplaincy service offers bedside visitation and meditation sessions for both staff and patients with the aim of bringing peace, calm, and hope to those suffering during times of ill health and loss.
